In a nationwide survey conducted by C fore - a Delhi based market research agency that conducts similar surveys for IIMs as well - has graded La Martiniere for Boys second, its counterpart La Martiniere for Girls fourth and St Xavier’s Collegiate School eighth among 250 of the most high profile schools in India.
What’s more, some city schools have topped quite a few individual parameters in the survey, titled ‘India’s Most Respected Schools’. On honesty and integrity, for instance, Ramakrishna Mission Vidya Mandir, Belur, has topped the country.
The results have been published in a Bangalore-based education magazine. The top position has been bagged by The Shri Ram School, Delhi.
While La Marts Boys and Girls and St Xavier’s Collegiate School have made it to the top
positions in various parameters, other schools like South Point, Patha Bhavan and St James, have made it to the top 10 list in "academic reputation". In co-curricular education, Don Bosco Park Circus, St James and Loreto House have bagged pride of place. Don Bosco and South Point have also made it to the top 10 in the ‘competence of faculty’ category. Along with Don Bosco and Loreto House, Ashoke Hall has bagged a place on top in infrastructure.
Along with RKM Vidya Mandir, St James and Patha Bhavan have made the top-10 list in honesty. Some of the other parameters include leadership/management quality, parental involvement, quality of alumni, sports education and value for money.
The schools are celebrating the enviable report card. "We are extremely happy to have bagged the second position among the top 10 schools of the country. We will strive harder next time
because there is no scope for complacency," said Sunirmal Chakraborty, principal of La Martiniere for Boys, who has been especially brought from his earlier school, St Paul’s Darjeeling to give this school a new direction. "Rankings do not excite me beyond a point but this one has indeed enhanced our prestige," he added.
Though South Point has not re-opened yet, the administration was in celebratory mood, despite the fact that it has not made it to the overall top 10 list. "We focus on academics much more than on things like co-curricular activities. Hence, we are happy to learn that we have topped the country in the academic excellence parameter," said Krishna Damani, spokesperson for the school.

Some clubs such as the Quiz Club and School Beautification Squad are relatively minor clubs, however there are those clubs which are quite active and those which are beginning to see the light of day as a ray of hope shines across them.....
