One of India's most independent editors finally tells his own story. From the alleged mole in Indira Gandhis cabinet to the cricket match-fixing scandal, to the Radia Tapes, the Editor-in-Chief of Outlook magazine Vinod Mehta brings you the fascinating stories behind these scoops in his remarkably candid memoir titled 'The Lucknow Boy' which has now been released.. Anuradha Sen Gupta of CNBC TV 18 spoke with him on her “Beautiful People” programme on 26 Nov 2011. In this interview he gives an insight into what makes him tick and why and which can also be construed as a lesson to budding editors of the gains and the pitfalls to be encountered in this profession.
It is fairly long (38 mts) but it is in Four parts to which you can return to at your leisure to continue. Curtailing this would have been a mistake. All of us who met Vinod in La Martiniere College Lucknow will be proud of his achievement but happy that he has not changed that much. He is still basically a Mart boy!
