I awoke to the noise of the alarm going off - 0630 hrs - I was determined to get to the Gymkhana Social Club with plenty of time to spare. It was a lovely day with the sun shining bright after the week of dull and rainy days that had passed. I had a long journey by overland rail and tube and being a Sunday I was only too aware of all the maintenance work that goes on. I was in luck. I had no problems, I was first to arrive and found the doors shut. At exactly 10:00 hrs the main door was opened. I introduced myself and was warmly welcomed. I took a stroll around the Hall which was already set up for the Reunion. Around 10:30 our Committee Members began to arrive and we started off putting the finishing touches to the Hall. Patricia and Warren set up the reception table with name tags at a more convenient spot, Warren and I moved the board with the table seating plan further in, a special Founders Day greeting card was placed on each table, greeting our Members and guests. Similar personalised greeting cards had been sent out to our schools overseas. Quite a few of our members and guests remarked on the appropriateness of the cards. Warren had brought along the walkie-talkie set he had purchased at his suggestion and approved earlier by the committee; the set was tried out and proved a success - the person speaking could be heard clearly all around the hall. The Committee had approved an earlier suggestion for a shuttle service to run from Osterley Station to the hall and back to pick up those members and guests who found it difficult to walk to and from the hall, this
